The Butte Tarpon Swim Team (BTST), Butte, Montana, seeks a Head Coach for our year-around age group program.

BTST is a parent run program with 40-50 swimmers and strong potential for growth. Swimmers’ skills vary from beginners to Nationals qualifiers. We practice at the Butte YMCA indoor eight lane 25-yard pool, a great aquatic facility that also includes a splash pool and slides. The facility includes a new 8-lane Colorado Timing scoreboard with touch pads on both ends. We have hosted the Montana State Short Course Age Group Championships the last three years, and will host the State High School Championships in 2011.

Job duties include coaching, developing practice plans, attending competitions, recruiting and retaining swimmers, supervising the assistant coaches, and working with a parent board. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, love working with kids (ages 5-19), work well with parents, and be enthusiastic. The coach should also have a documented knowledge of skills and stroke mechanics.

Certifications required: Must be a certified coach member of USA Swimming or be able to obtain those certifications prior to assuming the position. Background checks are required. Previous competitive swimming and coaching experience is preferred. ASCA Level I required, ASCA Level III preferred.

Salary: Base salary is $1,500-$1,800 per month dependent upon experience and qualifications, plus incentives.
